Dealing with Flooded Basement of Commercial Building
A flooded basement can pose a problem not only to houses but also to commercial properties within the area of places that experience heavy rains and storms frequently. Thus, the installation of a basement sump pump is important for businesses and establishments built in areas with moist climate.
Flood damage is certainly a hassle to businesses even if the only flooded area in the building is the basement. A flooded basement in a commercial building is as destructive as a flooded basement in a home; it can cause damage to the building’s foundation and walls resulting to the slow deterioration of the entire building and it can cause the growth of mold on moistened walls and surfaces which can result to health risks. It is not enough to just have a sump pump installed in the basement to pump the water out of the area. The size of the sump pump should be appropriate to the size of the room and the gravity of the task. A sump pump that is too small may become overwhelmed by the great amount of water to be pumped out of the basement and thus would be less effective in draining the water quickly.
The importance of back up sump pumps should never be taken for granted by business owners as these are very useful during power outages and in times when the primary sump pump fails.
